This is an unofficial PC remake of The Fairyland Story, originally a Japanese arcade game in 1985 by Taito. It puts the player in control of Ptolemy the witch, who must make her way through 101 single-screen rounds and defeat the evil purple dragon Dracolisk to retrieve the holy diamond and return peace to the land. Ptolemy's main weapon is her magic attack, which turns enemies into cakes for a short while, then the enemies can be either destroyed by further magic attacks or by being dropped off a platform, possibly squashing other enemies below. When being dropped from somewhere (either you or somebody else may push it or it may fall down by itself), the bewitched enemy expires. You can use your enemies as footholds for moving around the playing field. Several special items randomly emerge on screen during the game. If you take them with you, they will help you to win. On some levels, the characters can be instantaneously moved by teleports. Be careful, in one of the teleports there is a hiding place of the worm that can grab and trap both you and your enemies. The aim of the game is to defeat the Red Dragon who stole The Holy Gem. The Red Dragon occupies the 100th level. Your journey will not be an easy one. On each level, enemies of all sorts will try to stop you. |
