The Most Recognized Name In Education Now Available For Your Computer. Your children will want to learn. The Montessori teaching method, practiced in 80 countries round the world and taught in more than 5,000 Montessori schools across the United States, is now available as educational software for home use. It is based on the proven concept that the more completely a child's senses are involved in the learning process, the more that child will learn and understand. Montessori Math by Colors program allows your child to acquire knowledge in a truly interactive manner. Imagine a fanciful pair of cats teaching your child simple addition. Or an alligator teaching him or her how to subtract. Anything is possible when you introduce your child to the software program that turns basic math into a spontaneous artistic experience. This is a computer embodiment of "painting by numbers" for children from five to ten years old - only instead of simple numbers indicating a particular required shade, the pictures feature arithmetic examples. So you should focus on the instructions at the level of "0 + 0" or "987/7" - and dip the brush into the can of paint indicated by the result of the corresponding operation in the row located below the frame with the picture. However, first you will need to decide on the canvas for coloring: there is no main menu here, and we are simply shown rows of thumbnails of illustrations available for processing. There are ten of them on each of the four screens: to scroll, click on the arrows in the lower right and left corners. In the center of the same panel at the bottom are other control buttons: "EXIT" to exit the system, "Show result" to display statistics (pictures colored, examples solved, errors made), and "Control panel" for settings. In this menu, you can turn off the sound, select the desired difficulty level ("Easy" or "Advanced"), and more precisely adjust the type of tasks (by activating the signs of the four operations in any quantity and combination and specifying the maximum allowable number for appearing in such: 9, 20, 99 or 999). The graphics in VGA 640×480 format are distinguished by rather muted colors and not the largest range of colors used in our work (approximately 7–9), – however, everything looks quite nice; the themes of the drawings are dominated by various scenes with animals, wizards, firefighters, just children, etc. There is no music in the game, but the sound effects include voiced phrases (in English, of course), designed to congratulate our artistic and mathematical successes. |
