The original Myst was one of the most successful games ever and brought the popularity of 3D environments to games. However, the technology of the early 90s simply wasn't up to what the creators wanted to do. So when computers had developed to the point where they might come closer to doing so, and a real-time 3D engine was available, the Miller brothers jumped at the chance to create the worlds of Myst as they had originally envisioned them. There's dynamic, real-time and fully interactive with Day and night condition cycles, changing weather, and real-time lighting effects. Plus an all-new 5th age, called the Rime Age was added. All that and a new ending, and you have yourself the official "Directors Cut" of a classic. In 2014, a Masterpiece Edition updated version was released celebrating the 20th anniversary of Myst. The models and textures have been reconstructed to provide an amazing graphical experience. The environments have been enhanced to provide dynamic water, weather, lighting, foliage, focus, and more. The interface has been redesigned. | ||
