Once again a promotional game from Austria. The steel company "voestalpine" published this technically very impressive CD-ROM. In addition to the game, for who is interested there's also a 281-page textbook in pdf format. In the game, you take over the role of trainees and have different tasks in all areas of a steel mill, where among other things, this includes the loading of a blast furnace with the right mix to achieve the highest possible quality of the steel base. Again and again, you also get items that you need to use elsewhere. Small games of skill loosen the teaching program on it. The background graphics are photos, now and then you may also watch short videos. The voice acting is okay, but you can see that here Austrians try to speak High German. The tasks are not too difficult, and there's no puzzles like in a "real" adventure. It's just mainly a learning game, which is intended to illustrate one of the professions in a steel mill. Playing time is about three hours, and you will also be entertained quite well at this time. But one should not expect adventure with an exciting story and challenging puzzles. |
