Being One: Episodes 1-5 Psionic 2009

From the makers of Ghostscape come this free Flash game series that are one part point-and-click adventure, one part room escape, one part hidden object game but with a more concerted dedication to storytelling. Episode 1: Escape the Lab Your eyes open on a green tinted scene in a nightmare. As bubbles slowly meander upward through your field of vision, the details of a dark laboratory etch themselves into your consciousness from just beyond some sort of glass casing. After desperately flailing about with the unit's internal locks, the viscous green fluid that envelopes you suddenly drains away and your transparent prison no longer holds you captive. You find yourself aided by an unknown benefactor, set loose upon a place where strange experiments have been conducted on humans and some... things that are decidedly not human. Your goal is to escape the laboratory, possibly discovering details about your confinement, as well as the identity of your unnamed ally in the process. Episode 2: Bloodbath Panting and shaking as you finish your fight with the mechanoid, you lurch towards the exit. You still haven't made it out of the lab, merely to a higher level where the scientists at least haven't been experimenting on aliens but something else... Where Episode 1 was an exercise in quiet paranoia, Episode 2 is a jittery, nerve-ridden roller coaster ride that is deeper, darker and more blood-ridden. Episode 3: Dark Matter The emphasis here is on learning more of the back story while trying to logic your way past door locks, broken machinery, and surprisingly non-password protected computers. Episode 4: Moonrise There are door locks to solve, machinery that needs to be set, and objects that need to be collected and assembled. Find your way to the flight deck and hey, if you're really good, you might even be able to get off this hunk of rock before it pulls itself apart. This episode returns to lots of blood, gore, and killing. The fear factor has also returned with lots of strange noises, ominous ground shaking, creepy crawlies, and lots and lots of really insane graffiti. Episode 5: Infection (May/2012) It's a race against time to cure himself of the disease he's been infected with, battle the station's other inhabitants, and move one step closer to his revenge. But nothing is as it seems. You have tools at your disposal: a microscope for examining biological samples, an autohacker used to access terminals around the station, a multi-tool for disassembling mechanical devices, and, of course, a gun for use on any hostile creatures. These will often prompt minigames of all different kinds: shooter, arcade, puzzle, and so forth, all controlled with the mouse.
