Moonlight Jonas Kyratzes 2012

Jonas Kyratzes takes us on another wordy journey through his bipolar whimsy, presenting a player-directed Protean humanistic hyperfiction journey to distant places and deceased loved ones, accompanied by British personality Stephen Fry. This is a text adventure made with Twine engine. Beginning with party chatter about the excellent nacho plate, things develop when Madonna's Lip Woman pulls out the old party trick of invoking Egyptian queen Cleopatra at a séance. Soon thereafter Stephen and the player transform into birds and take off for warmer climes, from whence they board a ship piloted by a Big White Poof-Poof. The unconventional hyperfiction presentation permits for the inclusion of numerous juicy quotations and extended conversations containing surreal rants, joke contests and simple stream-of-consciousness dialogue. The game touches on the perspective of the dead, and later, following a resuming of the fantastic voyage ending in an unwelcome visit from a troop of riot police, of the living dead -- the impossible plight of the desperately poor in late-stage capitalism (a pitched battle currently being waged in the author's native Greece against the shock troops of the IMF.) But even there, in a seemingly inescapable bind, the entire prior proceedings revealed as a species of moonstruck Brazil-esque escapist fantasy, a thorough player will find a shred of hope.
