Doom 3 BFG Edition Error During Initialization

My specs:
HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx Entertainment PC
CPU: Intel Core i5-2430M 2.40 GHz
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 3000 (OEM driver version 8.15.10.2291)
RAM: DDR3-1333 8 GB
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

This didn't happen on my old laptop (Intel Core i3-380m, Intel HD Graphics Arrandale, 2 GB (1.86 GB Usable) Ram)

You could try installing the latest driver for that GPU chipset, because the one you have installed is not it.

I.E.; The EOL (End of Life) driver

Thank you so much :thanks: :hug:, I installed the drivers and the game worked like a charm. :D :)

Off topic, but are these generic drivers, because I stopped using generic drivers after I found out that they were causing problems with some specific games (especially ParaWorld), so if these are indeed generic drivers, can you tell me where can I find the latest OEM drivers (my laptop is HP Pavilion dv7-6b55dx Entertainment PC), I found them (OEM driver 8.15.10.2291) here https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/se ... ku=A1T53UA and the 8.15.10.2291 graphics driver worked flawlessly, while 8.15.10.2476 caused graphical errors in ParaWorld, so I tried a software called Driver Identifier, and it said that the latest HP OEM driver for my laptop was 9.17.10.2857, so I installed it and it also caused graphical errors in ParaWorld (health bars for buildings and units were black, and ParaWorld wouldn't work in full screen, it would just give a black screen, had to run it in windowed mode), while the 8.15.10.2291 graphics driver worked flawlessly with ParaWorld.

That's the problem you're going to have with Intel onboard GPUs...I always use "generic" drivers, but then again I don't use onboard graphics to play games.

You're just going to have to keep multiple driver installers on hand.. 2291 is a little less 4 years older than the "generic" I pointed you towards and is subsequently missing any fixes and/or support for newer software made in those intervening years.

Now I understand why everyone dislikes (sometimes even hate) onboard GPUs (because now, I dislike, although not hate, onboard GPUs too :lol:)

I unfortunately do not have a discrete GPU, in fact, I am just lucky to even have this laptop, it is a lot faster than my old one, which was Intel Core i3-380m, Intel HD Graphics Arrandale, 2 GB RAM (1.86 GB Usable).

That is what I have done now, I have kept the installers for the following driver versions :up: :
OEM Driver 8.15.10.2291 (For ParaWorld and most of my games)
OEM Driver 9.17.10.2857 (For Doom 3 BFG Edition and any other game that might not work with the driver above)
Generic Driver 9.17.10.4229 (Also for Doom 3 BFG Edition and just in case both of the above drivers don't work for any reason, and also, this one supports the resolution 1280x720, while the ones above don't)
