Improve old games graphics

Postby oldman » Sat Jun 28, 2014 9:34 pm

Code: Select all
http://www.voodooshader.com/

Improve graphics in your favorite games with Voodoo Shader.

Voodoo Shader improves and extends graphics in old and new games. It's fast, stable, open-source, and runs on ATi/AMD and nVidia with DirectX or OpenGL. Better yet, it works with many games, allowing you to share your favorite effects with all your favorites and tweak them how you want.
==============================================================
I haven't used this yet ,though i'm about to try it on Anachronox pc game .

aPOLIGIES ,if this is old news :)
===================================================================
EDIT:
This is also supposed to be good for some old OpenGL games:
qeffects-gl:
Code: Select all
https://code.google.com/p/qeffects-gl/

u put both files into your game folder and
u can adjust the settings in the ini file.
Notes:
Do not replace the library in "WINDOWS/System32"!
Some anti-cheating software (e.g. VAC) may refer the library to as a cheat. Do not use anti-cheating software when playing with QeffectsGL!

These are suggested settings by another user for Anachronox:
;{===============]
[Generic]
Anisotropy=8
Multisample=2
MultisampleHint=0
Bloom=1
BloomSteps=8
BloomDarken=3
BloomScale=2
SSAO=1
SSAOScale=1.0
SSAOMinZ=0.0005
SSAOMaxZ=0.0010
Hue=0
Saturation=10
Lightness=0
Emboss=0
EmbossScale=0.666
DOF=1
DOFMinZ=0.000005
DOFSpeed=1.75
DOFScale=5.0

[anox.exe]
RenderFrame=-1
;{=================}
Though,i would maybe try and find out a bit more about qeffects-gl before-hand.

sidenote: if u want to translate the Cyrillic Russian readme.txt:
Paste the text into the box at:
Code: Select all
http://newyork.mashke.org/Conv/

Press convert and then copy-paste into the normal google translate.
i keep both translators bookmarked together in my firefox toolbar for quick access.

So, it's something in line of ENB, SweetFX & co. but with more varied options?

well, I'm no expert in these things,but i suppose u could say it's something similar to
enb and sweetfx.

I haven't had the chance to fully test what sort of improvements u can get.
but will do soon.
It seems to be geared up for older opengl games,so there's only so much it can probably do with some old games.

I was looking for info about Anachronox and came across it.
There's a lot of classic Quake engine games it might be good for.
