I know this isn't related with 3d shooters but does some1 knows how to extract or convert AC3 sound files from AVI videos?

It's quite easy:
Google for Virtual Dub Mod and then download it. Open your avi file with VDub Mod and click "Streams > Streamlist" . This will list all audio tracks of your avi file. Just click the right one and then "save as wave...."
That's it :)

If you want to convert it to another filetype, BeSweet would be a good porgramm. Similar program which is more easily to use would be Headac3he. It will convert your AC3 stream into pcm wave/mp2/mp3 or whatever you prefer.

If any further questions.. ask! cause might know some things you need

Sure. You export the sound as I have mentioned it above.
Then you use Headac3he or BeSweed to get rid of the AC3 and output a wave file.

If you succeeded, the wave file will be about 900mb. Okay, then open Virtual dub (not mod, cause I don't really know how to do it with VDub mod) and select "Video > Direct stream copy" then "Audio > Wave audio" and select the wave file outputted by Headac3he/BeSweet. When the wave file is loaded, click "Audio > Compression" and select something like mp3 (or whatever you prefer) and the bitrate you'd like to have.
When finished just click "File > Save avi" and save the avi :P

What's the sense? You'll have normal mp3 audio instead of ac3 audio in your avi file. the picture quality will be 100% the same cause you've previously selected direct stream copy on video. so just the audio gets reencoded.

hope you get what I mean.

Thanx!

Edit: Headac3he tells me that there's not enough space on destination drive when I try to convert but there's like 25 Go...

Hm... shouldn't be that way. Did you DL all dlls you need? :)
Or try besweet instead if Headac3he doesn't work probperly.

I normally need 15-20mins for the whole decoding (just for info).

I don't know what was the problem... But I just directly extracted the AC3 file from the video and converted it to wav... seems to work..

Edit: Virtual dbu is telling me this message:

No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the sound format

Do I miss a dll or something? Plz help

<a href='http://www.codec-download.de/' target='_blank'>Klick here</a> I`m a Link.
They have all you need. And a german forum with english spoken topic to.
I think you need the AC3 filter, maybe you need a codec. G-Spot is the best tool to check your codecs.
