No decent PC games...

Postby otiscrusher » Wed May 12, 2010 10:02 pm

Nothing at all. The devs became real cunts. Totally stopped making joyful shooters or RPGs. Everything's ported or is multiplatform initially. Just look at the latest Splinter Cell or Bioshock 2. I mean there's nothing to run. NOTHING. Looks like the PC world is finally finished. Or about to have that fatal headshot. RIP, amigo?

Bought PS3 and Xbox 360 this year. Played some retarded sht. Wasted a lot of time in efforts to understand how a saint person can enjoy those console jibs. Nearly commited suicide. Sold both consoles in a month later for a price of used up toiled paper. It's a tough world we live in...

I really enjoyed Tales of Monkey Island, but good games are really scarce today... Now it's apparently more important for the game to look pretty than being fun. :(

Long live the DOS age! Most of my favorite games are from then.
Some people are like slinkies... They're not really good for much but they do bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.

That's why 3dsl exists so you can explore better designed options that time and hype forgot. :) The games industry has been acting like this since 2002 where the money talks more than the man with an idea to pitch does. It's the kind of place where Shigeru Miyamoto couldn't get a job in now if he were unemployed.

3DSL has only like 0.01% percent of all action games ever released, even less. So 3DSL isn't much help at all. It doesn't even have all action games I know and have. When I first came here I was stunned how many titles are here and full CD images uploaded. But now... it's a joke. Seriously, it's scarce in shooters. There's nothing to plunder. I was thinking about opening the place filled with action games. Besides I have other comrades interested in this idea. ~3000 shooters could be upped easily. Full CD/DVD images, 1:1 copies of the original retail discs. But there's one slight problem which I'm not gonna discuss, especially here.

Can you exaggerate any more? :P We just passed 1500 entries on 3DSL last week, I forgot to post that in news. If you bothered to read our FAQ, it says we limit games to those in 3D and it has to have shooting in it. We don't include space sims or most tank shooters either though there are some on site. Sure there are other action games like shmups and platformers (which I've added in Adventure Legends) but they don't fall into our specialization. If there are titles you think we should add, you can do so in Site Suggestions forum section.

This is why I keep playing my good ol' favorite shooters like half-life, unreal tournament, duke nukem 3d, etc... You can always find new user-made stuff for these games, unlike some new shitty titles that cannot be modded at all.

Just finishing up playing through Farcry with the AMD 64-bit Upgrade & Conversion to 32-bit ... Nice. Man what a tough but good game. That's a nice engine. I was surprised to see that really no other games used it, I wonder why.

It's buggy but aint tough. Just another FPS you gonna forget soon.

May be coz it's not that nice as you might think. I didn't like the graphics much. Especially that horrible water and those doll soldiers. That was so laughable. Plastic dolls shooting at ya in that red shirt. In HL2 it was much much better. Nothing technically advanced but very convincing nevertheless.

hl2's soldiers were dumbbrained and the water was limited to one surface only

Yes, right, an absolite technology, crude sometimes (lowres textures and lowpoly objects) but still HL2 is the best of the best to me. :D Sure thing it's flawed, like EVERY game ever made but... forgiven forgot. :)

Where would be a list of all these titles so we can assess or measure that?

Do you mean, the shooter site and the adventure one combined?
Do you mean from 1991 up or are you going back (Donkey Kong is an action game)? Do you mean PC only or everything else??

I think you're saying that for every title here, they are 10 000 others.
There would be 15 000 000 action titles out there?

I agree with some thoughts. The games became more boring since 2002, the reasons are:

The creators begun to mix FPS with Strategic tactics and Simulation.
The games become more short, too short. The standard now are 4 to 6 hours.
The creators are more occuped thinking on put more and more pixels than make a really enjojable game. I don´t play only for the graphics, it seems they create a game only to stay with par on modern hardware not for the game itself.

Theese are some of the reasons i think games now are so bad. Trust me i´ve seen modern FPS that i simply can´t really enjoy, even with their realism, i can´t find them fun. It´s more fun to play Heretic or Doom 1, HL, Duke Nukem, Blood, Quake or Unreal.

The modern games? i don´t think of them anymore since 5 years back or so.

Yesterday I've finished Alpha Protocol... a wasted time, avoid this title. :-x
