I now have a computer that will run shader 2.0 games! I'm currently playing FEAR, and am giddy with delight! Welcome to the new millenium!

I played all FEAR's for PC and did not find anything scary in those games. Their boringness scared me the most while playing though.
Also SM2 is so old now when lots of games using SM3, especialy Unreal3 engine powered games. Buying Sm2 card is a bad choice now.

well man
all i can say is that it really scared me.....

but remember i always played it late @ night alone in complete dark room.......

it really destroys the atmosphere of such games when they get played during the day with sunshine outside and people sitting next to you.....

like doom 3 i.e or Alone in the Dark : The New Nightmare

man i swear if you play F.E.A.R or Doom 3 the first time like i said
( late at night , complete dark room , alone )

+ a very good soundcard + headphones ( headphones r the best ).......man then you lie if you still say that it doesnt scares you.......

lol btw nobody thinks that just weaklings get scared by video games thats nonsense

youre not stronger or weaker if a game scares you or not.......

I bought the whole computer. 2.69Ghz, 80Gigs, ATI Xpress, put 2 Gigs DDR2 in it. Pawn shop find, $250 all together, good deal I think. After I sell off the old one it'll be even less.

yeah condemned is quite scary too

but not as good as FEAR i think
i just like FEAR cause its so crazy somehow the ideas the story idk
everything

i like that its not just a simple horror shooter
and the play time is long very long i think for games nowadays

i played 20 - 30 hours @ F.E.A.R and 6-8 @ Extraction Point

well anyways, the story could be from a cinema movie......
there r just so many places in the game that r so damn crazy

one moment you walk straight up to a door
then you get thrown back and suddenly u r in a complete diffrent setting

walls r painted with blood, its dark lol then these static sounds from the radio and you know something will happen within the next steps u go

blah blah
i just like it

it constantly kept me playing further cause i wanted to know more about the story

The problems I'm seeing in FEAR are pretty obvious. First off, the battles have almost nothing to do with the story. You just keep fighting your way through industrial complexes, business complexes, killing loads of faceless enimies. It could be any modern war-type game, if you took away the tiny story elements. It's kind of pointless, they should have at least tried to integrate the story into the action. Instead what you get are cut-scenes, and of all things, random answering machine messages. I'm sure it's because it was developed with the online gaming crowd in mind. What you get is a beautiful looking game without a whole lot of substance. It's pretty predictable, but looks real, real nice. Still, I'll take Half-Life over this if I had to chose.

Well, finished FEAR and Extraction Point. Pretty challeging at points. Got easier towards the end when I'd figured out the mechanics, and when attacks were likely to happen. I can see what you mean by boring. In the begining I was creeping everywhere I went, seem to make the game really slooow, but that's because the enemies are good shots and they gun you down in a second if you just stumble into them. I was able to pick up the pace once I got an idea of where the enemies would be placed. And the fact that they're agressive, it was usually better to take up a defensive position and let them come to you.

Now I gotta check out Persius Mandate.
