If you knew you were going to die...

Post by Old_Schooler »

I myself often wonder what would happen to the games I've contributed to this site if I were to die and not do something to preserve their ability to be downloaded and enjoyed by others? Well, first off, I'd probably slap myself for being such a jerk and not even considering taking care of this little task before I left this world.

Then I got to wondering, what would you guys do if this were to happen to you. How would you keep your legacy of kind contributions to this excellent (I can't stress that word enough here) site? Would you leave your login details for the host accounts to a selected heir so they might maintain them? Would you hope that someone else has a copy of the game and would upload a copy when your copy of the file is deleted?

For me, I'd probably have to go with the "heir" solution. It's a pretty big gamble to do such a thing, but I can't really think of any other way I'd go about it.

:(
Thank God there are only a few people around (I mean at Adventure Legends) whose demise would seriously affect the state of the affairs here.

If I die, it wouldn't be a great loss, at least not for AL that is. I think the big names here already gave their passwords for 4Shared to each other (or to Scaryfun). I sincerely hope so.

You're feeling well, Egon, aren't you? Glad to hear you are.

You might not realize this, but this scenario actually occured during the time when 3D Shooterlegends was still mainly a German website. I believe the person in question shared his account infos, and I think most of them are still going strong. Talk about a legacy! :)

Wow, talk about devotion! I'm feeling proud of being part of a project with such a pedigree. :)

Just for the record: I think I saw some kind of homage note at AL to a guy who passed away :? .

David Morgan, author of the book Monty Python Speaks asked Eric Idle (like all other Pythons): "A fire is raging in a warehouse which contains everything you have ever done. If you could run into the inferno and rescue but one item that would be preserved for future generations, what would it be?"

"My penis" - replied Eric.

This can't be serious... :?

You are here for like a month now and you worry about what'll happen to your UPLOADS after your death? Come on what's wrong with the people today? Seriously better ask like "What would happen to my kids if I died" or something. There will always be someone uploading the same stuff as long as it's possible. I'm sure about that.

There will always be someone giving birth to the same stuff as long as it's possible. Yep, all humans are the same shit. And you're example too.
To stay on the subject, if I knew I were going to die, and if it's painful death, I'd kill myself. And I'd eventually left a message to say I won't be able to update 3dsl anymore :P

Well, theres a old phrase saying: "Mens are hunters and woman are gatherers".So if thats true this site wouldnt last for long because of the strong men popularity here  So this prooves theres no need to worry about anything like that

I myself have no idea why I was so compelled to ask this question. Though I think it's probably due in part to the fact that I wanted to see how silly or serious the replies would be so as I could discern what you guys here are like.

Of course, I wasn't expecting someone to quote Eric Idle.
