Bet On Soldier: Blood Sport. Damn Installer!  Topic is solved

Post by Danoi »

From CD 1 - When I click setup.exe, installer pops up for a split second, before it instantly disappears out to desktop before I barely get to step 1.
WHAT IN THE????? :x

Same goes to Robocop (2003) after installation. :?

Compatibility to Win2000, DEP off - Still NONE!

Help. :?

Intel i7
Nvidia GPU
8GB RAM
750 HDD
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Bet On Soldier: Blood Sport has a crack dvd at link #5 in download. Did you follow instructions in that nfo?

For Robocop, try using the Revised crack for modern o/s 548kb (uploaded by GigaWatt).

1.) Unrar 4-CDs & Crack DVD. (Did)
2.) Mount CD-1 with Daemon Tools. (Did)
3.) Pressing setup.exe from CD-1. (Just pops up, then disappears. Gone.)

Ironically, tried a Russian-language only repack, installer works, and game works.

Not a virus too.

I wonder how crack works to start installing the game?

I hope you don't mind this.

From this torrent: http://bitsnoop.com/pc-bet-on-soldier-e ... 58604.html.

It looks rather similar to the one uploaded here, so why not.

Tried Run as Admin. Didn't.

Maybe different installers?

I'll try to download the other one it uploaded here to see the difference later on this week. I wonder if it's Installer problem from the torrent.

UPDATE - July 29, 2014.

Downloaded CD1 from here. Appears to be identical as the torrent, STILL THE SAME RESULT! Double-Click Setup.exe, and nothing happened.

Blood of Sahara Setup.exe however, ran & installed flawlessly.

There must be something about the execution.

PS: Laugh now, it's on a laptop I want to play, Lenovo.

For now, while waiting what's going on with the main game, I'll play the prequel, Blood of Sahara.

When having problems with InstallShield/Wise installers, I usually try to run them through Universal Extractor. Run the software, enter the location of the setup.exe on the CD, and give it a extraction path on your harddisk. Three extraction options will be proposed - you're gonna have to try all of them.

This method rarely works with big games - as the installers often copy useful files in different locations and adds different keys to the registry, which Uniextract doesn't - but it is useful for debugging installers and it may give you positive results. It's something to try IMHO.

IT WORKED! I can install the game, and install the patches 1.2 & 1.3, LEGITIMATELY. XD

Thank you. :)

I hope I can delete Bet On Soldier 1.3 safely in control panel, once I'm finished.

Hmmm, I'll experiment later on with: Le Mans 24 Hours, Sega Rally 2. The installers won't let me install beyond XP & Win 98' respectively.
