I downloaded Math Blaster Mission 3 and renamed the files to .7z but the extract failed.

I don't know what to do. Maybe the files are broken or something. They weren't really zip files at the beginning. One was a Split file and the others were .002 and .003 files.

Don't rename anything, just extract the .001 file and the other parts will follow automatically. Same goes with the .r** files inside, extract the .rar only.

I researched and realized that I would need to use 7-zip to extract these files. I'm currently away from home but I'll install it later.

I installed 7-zip, extracted the 001 file only and I think it will work.
I will reply if something happens.

The *.001, etc. files are rar files. You can name the extension anything you want when making the archives via command line. If you were to open the *.001 file with a text and/or hex editor you'd see a line similar to this directly at the beginning:

This signifies a rar archive.
