hello old good friend scaryfun and other games collectors.
after big pause, Independent Software (specialised old games search engine) is back online!
any suggestions of good websites which have many downloadable games are welcome. curretly we are up to date with some good ones.
hope that our project will be as useful like some years ago.

I noticed last year your site url was down and stumbled on what seemed a new mirror at http://stare.gry2.pl/ but now that's down. Are you planning on making available those games you had up before or not?

yes, http://stare.gry2.pl/ was archive of old IS. we planned to leave it as old IS archive, but i see it is down now. i must ask serwer admin what happened. some weeks ago it worked fine.
thanks for new links. we will check them in a few days.
we analise new websites html code, and then create individual scripts to extract games with direct links. so, every next update of already known website is ready in few seconds =)

"adventure legends" - great new project of yours! maybe "strategy" one in a future and other genres? ;P

great source of old game/soft compilations. i believe it contains many unique files, but naming/sorting of files is not enought to index it.
let me take for example 101games/disk1/CDGAMES/PLAYGAME/
when i browse it, i know that alone1 is "alone in the dark", blkjack is "black jack"... etc, but this naming is unusable for search engine in most cases.
i'm also not sure, isnt this stuff a demos? wad file for doom is too small (if i good remember, it was larger then 4MB unpacked).

thanks anyway for your support. some sites that you listed here are currently used searching. we have now indexed 25 great sites.
we especially looking for sites which contains many games or have some harder to find (then number of games is not important, if the site is another mirror for more unique game).

remember those old shareware pack CDs from the 90'
well this site dumped them all , not as isos but only the content files

For that reason I wish there was a way to search the contents of all those archives, for their readmes, file lists, etc.
I would have to mass dl' them, then use a find tool on the mass

I noticed the direct links to games on Juego Viejo & The Old Computer don't work. Could be the urls are truncated since Juego Viejo has spaces in their url names.
