I have the 1.1 patch. After a search for a 1.2 patch, I found one for the first game, but not Elite Force 2. I don't think there is a 1.2 patch for Elite Force 2.

No, I can just click "yes" or "no" on the training screen an unlimited amount of times and the game won't start. The multiplayer won't start either.

It seems as if the game isn't reading the disc.
