Heh, I saw this article. Probably they took inspiration from H.R.Giger's designs - he did the movie Alien monsters and ships...the openings to the crashed ship where they find the eggs look like vaginal openings as well.

funny thing is that .. you cannot enter those doors Only monsters pop out shooting at you from those doors. At one time I found one ... that speaks to me with the "mother's" voice. Spooky! I totally freaked out! I expected one of those pesky spiderlike aliens to pop out from there and ... it began to move like two lips and said somethng . I couldn't remember what because I was to freaked out ...
