Tamagotchi, the virtual reality pet, is best known as a digital toy that can be used as a keychain. As the story goes, the Tamagotchi's have traveled millions of light-years to reach earth where they deposit an egg. You are to hatch the egg and raise the alien as your pet. The main goal of the game is to keep your Tamagotchi happy. This is done by playing games with it while keeping it fed and in healthy condition. When the computer is turned off, the program uses your computer's internal clock to keep track of how long you are away. A Tamagotchi can be left in the care center for up to 72 hours. Keep your pet happy and it will remain with you for as long as possible. If it is sad for too long the creature will leave and return to its home planet. Raising a Tamagotchi through its full cycle will take about one month. The CD-ROM version adds a scrapbook, screensaver, and more mini-games. |
