Légendes Souterraines [Fr] Cryo / Canal+ Multimedia 1997

Walk in the footsteps where so many others have lost. They sowed their way with weapons and armor, valuable clues to help you. Go now, and be the one who brings deliverance to the lost souls in purgatory. Obscura is the City of Ember, a large city mortuary. It is surrounded by seven cities of light, each creating a colorful burst of light spectrum. The first galleries were dug in the year 540 of the dark era to receive the dead of the overcrowded cities. His underground maze is highly complex and has always been a safe haven for many fugitives and exiles from the city lights that line it. Henceforth, haunted by his own ghosts, Obscura still holds many clues. These are all pieces of puzzles to collect that will help you solve the puzzles protecting access to each of the Cities of Light. Obscura will be destroyed when the seven riddles have been solved and that the combination of colored beams from the seven cities will bring white light into this dark world. It takes place in a particular time in a particular universe. Indeed it is a game that was sold with the virtual game Second World, an online game that was the first where it was possible to move freely with other players on the net, here in a reconstruction of Paris. YOU must unify the world to emerge from the darkness. To do this, there has to available, and from the beginning of the game, a sort of laser gun (it's not a flashlight, it's a laser that unifies more light). This weapon will allow us to kill our enemy. You can also use it to turn yourself into ... a cockroach. We can also change weapons or color laser. Objects, such as keys, or vital organs such as the spleen, may be collected for various uses. Enemies and most items come from biblical and medieval worlds, engravings or illuminations, or Carthusian monks enemies you throw potions (or holy grenades, see Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or the Carthusian fathers who just a grenade with a cross as a symbol). It's a Doom-like shooter in first person and at the same time a puzzle game. We operate in a setting in 3D rendering software (there is no possibility to rotate in 3D openGL or Direct) . Characters or enemies are themselves in 2D. The atmosphere is dark, Steam Punk, so a good mix of mechanical and medieval objects. The composer Pierre Esteve provided music in the game. The designs are very beautiful and the music works. Animations of enemies and interface are very successful.
