Melrin 1-3 Joacim Andersson 2003

#1 The Disciple Ordeal Can't tell you what this game is about because the first puzzle is to find out where Melrin (the hero of the game) is and how he got there and why. It will appeal to fans of the Zelda games and the like. Taking place in a wonderful fantasy land, Melrin offers a range of huge locations to explore, all of which create a beautiful atmosphere for the game. The graphics are really attractive and you'll love exploring the kingdom. Melrin encounters very little life-threatening danger on his journey so the vibe of the game is relaxed and thoroughly delightful. Although Melrin is an amiable enough lead, the characters he meets along the way are very developed, offering only straight to the point dialogue. There are no real verbal exchanges to cherish here. On the plus side, this does make the games very pacy and Melrin himself has some amusing dialogues with the players themselves. #2 The Pendant Quest (Aug 2004) This time Melrin has the find the royal pendant that has been stolen or a curse will destroy his land by fire and water. Unlike in the first gamel, you can't die in this one. You must however create a lot of magic spells using your magic book and your portable cauldron. The graphics have been improved into a more lush, cartoony look and the game has the same easy going, relaxed charm as the first one but the game is far shorter than the first. #3 The Dragon Menace (Oct 2004) This time a rumour has reached the royal court that a dragon is pestering the country side. The king sends out Melrin to investigate. To solve the many puzzles that exist in this game you need to create magic spells and combine many inventory items. The GUI is simular to the earlier games. You have your magic bowl in which you mix items to create the spells that you can read about in your Book of Spells. You also have a magic map, look at it (right click) to use it.
