Camelot Warriors: El Remake BUHOnero, Coelophysis 2007

This freeware remake of the Spanish platform game from 1985 (on C64, ZX Spectrum and other platforms but not PC) replaces the 8-bit graphics and sounds with modern, enhanced assets while keeping the unforgiving gameplay of the original. As before, the player controls a knight of the round table on a quest to retrieve four magical artifacts for King Arthur. In a humorous twist, all the the quest items are anachronistic objects. For example, "the fire that doesn't burn" is actually a fluorescent lamp. The knight has a limited set of movements and only one attack strike, a sword swipe, to transverse screens filled with obstacles, dangerous roaming monsters and hazardous environments. The hero can be killed by touching anything remotely dangerous, and is unable to crouch and slay short enemies. In one instance, after bringing back the artifact to the wizard Aznaht, the knight is transformed into an amphibian creature to be able to breathe underwater and navigate a complex of submerged caves. It won second place at CEZ Retrocompo 2007 to remake Spanish games.
