"Alice in Wonderland" is certainly one of the masterpieces of world literature and made into numerous films and cartoons. It has lines that are often built on a play of words, surprisingly lyrical and filled with deep philosophical meaning. The story told by a a century and a half ago outed an unknown math teacher to two young girls, brought him international fame and immortality. This is an educational program on the CD-ROM based on the book by Lewis Carroll and for the first time on CD it's realized an attempt to recreate the fabulous world online, to transfer the amazing spirit and charm of this work. The disc contains the original English text of "Alice in Wonderland", a little-known early translation of Vladimir Nabokov's most popular paraphrase by Boris Zakhoder, linguistically accurate translation of Vladimir Orel, and completely new paraphrase by Boris Balter. However, reading a book in English - not an easy task, especially since such a deep subtext built on puns and parodies. Therefore, the original text is provided with a dictionary and a special link. If you do not understand a word, then hovering the cursor over it with the "mouse," You will be displayed as instant translation. If you want to know more, then by every word and expression is given linguistic, historical and even philosophical background. The English text voiced by actor Jim Doner and Russian (and comments) by Boris Zakhoder. And the pictures? You are waiting for pictures of Lewis Carroll from a rare facsimile edition of "Alice's Adventures Underground", with illustrations by John Tenniel. Note that the first edition of "Alice" came out with black and white illustrations by John Tenniel. Later, the artist has painted thirteen of his drawings. Color illustrations of Tenniel are reconstructed especially for this program using computer matching options of the palette of the original drawings. In addition, you can see funny illustrations by Tatiana Yarygin and fragments of the famous cartoon, which has already become a classic.
