Kakkong: Land of Chaos [K] KidnKid.com / Samsung 2000

A tactical RPG based on popular comics in Korea. The plot is simple and follows the adventures of the protagonist Kgakkun on his way to the demon king Daimai to defeat him. The gameplay is a journey across the global map to various locations, during the study of which different creatures come across. They are visible in advance - and can be bypassed, while not all are set up aggressively. The appearance of the adversaries is made with a great deal of humor - suffice it to say that the first enemies will be rabbits, and a little later there will be an anthropomorphic hermit crab (the shell is available). Battles take place in a step-by-step mode in a cell-by-cell format; you can perform one or two actions (for example, change position and hit the enemy). The role-playing system consists of standard characteristics (strength, dexterity, protection, and so on), and a party can have up to five people. The plot is presented in a linear fashion, and ordinary dialogues with NPCs do not carry useful information, therefore, advancement in the plot without understanding the language is possible using the trigger hunting method. The graphics are made in a combination of pre-rendered environment and character sprites, drawn in a sloppy style according to the original. The music is unremarkable, but not annoying either. Bottom line: a solid middling, which might be of interest to fans of the genre.
