Windows 95 Game Sampler 2 Monolith / Microsoft 1996

Following the release of the previous sampler of the same year, Microsoft again enlisted the development skills of Monolith Productions in making a CD-ROM which would be used to showcase various games on the Windows 95 operating system. Like the first sampler, it was included along with the CD-ROM for the Windows 95 operating system. The games featured this time are different. Games such as Diablo, Captain Quasar, The Neverhood, Ravage D.C.X. and Drowned God feature demos which can be accessed via a fully explorable 3D environment seen from a first person perspective. Also included are: Close Combat, Decathlon, DeathDrome, Fire Fight, Flight Unlimited, Free Enterprise, Hellbender, (Hold Onto Your) Nuts!, Killing Time, Monster Truck Madness, Necrodome, Road Rash, Time Commando, War Wind, You Don't Know Jack! The environment, like in the first sampler, is set on a space station, this time called "Station X." Again, the station is filled with a number of secrets to find which makes navigating the station a game in itself. Though, beyond that, you don't solve any puzzles or fight any enemies, just explore and access demos. But that in itself makes for quite an entertaining concept rather than just a bland series of menus from which you can access games.
