Pulse Team Pixel Pi / Vancouver Film School 2015

Pulse is a first person, suspense/survival game made with Unity engine in which you play as a young blind girl named Eva. Originally a free game made as a school project in 2012, it was further developed as a retail game. First person? Blind? What's the catch? Eva uses a process similar to echolocation to "see" her environment. Sounds in the world allow her to imagine what the area looks like, and in turn allows the player to navigate. With the aid of cute, fuzzy, although stupid creatures called Mokos, Eva must create enough sound to solve the challenges of the world, while being careful not to alert the more dangerous forest creatures. Deep in the forest resides a shrine. Indigenous tribes pay respect to the spirits by walking the pilgrim's path and performing the song of the forest at the shrine. Every year, the oldest child of one family is chosen to walk the pilgrim's path to appease the spirits and bring honor to the entire tribe. Eva, the 13 year old daughter and oldest child of the tribe's chief has been denied her rite of passage to walk the pilgrim's path. When her family was chosen, her younger brother Tahu ventured in her place. The path is long and treacherous, inhabited by dark beasts of the forest. Tahu has not yet returned to the tribe leaving Eva to fear the worst. Against the wishes of her family, she quietly leaves the tribe in search of her brother to bring him home safely.
