Ultraverse Freex Malibu Comics Entertainment 1993

One year after launching their initially successful “Ultraverse” line of superhero comics, Malibu Comics decided to extend their newfound empire into new mediums. One of these was computers and onto this they launched a short lived attempt at adapting their comics into interactive form called CD-Romix. Three CD-ROMs in total were released adapting three series: Prime, Hardcase and Freex. The Freex CD adapted the very first issue of the Freex comic series that focused on a group of young teenage superheroes as they struggled with their powers and finding acceptance in a world frightened of people like them. It was given animation, music, sound effects and full voice over work to turn it from a normal comic into an interactive and more lively one. The CD also included a behind the scenes look at the making of the original comic it was based on.
