Global Operations is based on the Lithtech engine of Monolith. The main focus is on-line battles very like those in Counter-Strike. There are different classes: Doctors, Recon, Sniper etc. and apart from one or another special ability they do not differ much, merely different weapons are available. In the game, however, (if one takes up another weapon) all classes with the weapons are equally good. Design-wise Global Operations is good and has good animations and weapons. In gameplay, nothing has occured to the developers as a staggering new idea. The levels are bigger than with CS, however, less oriented to teamplay (as in RTCW you respawn right after you die, so team tactics are complicated). The levels take place in all regions of the world (Antarctic to tropics, towns, ships ...) and are partially successful and very pretty, others look less good. Among the other objectives there is a matter of eliminating a drug baron or protect someone or there's something in the air to hunt. There is something a bit new... in Canada there is an exempt criminal which you try to bring to a certain point but nobody tries to kill him. Altogether Global Operations is not a bad game, however, it also is not a CS killer. | ||
