Okay, here's the short story. I've got a power supply, and a case that it won't fit in. So, I figured I'd just put the PSU on TOP of the case and run the cables inside. Standard air-cooling all around...
Does anyone foresee me smoking any parts, or will this actually aid in ventilation?

Under the desk, on top of the case itself.
Thanks, I just figured I'd ask before something overheated.
And for future reference?
Do NOT buy a modular PSU if your case is hinged; the motherboard power cable is about 1/2" thick, and prevents the case from closing, because of the drive bays on the opposite side.

We'll start the ass-kissing with you
If anything in-case cooling should be less of a problem since you now have one of the major heat generators outside the case. So no hot air from that will be worked directly into the rest of the case.
What Oyn said though, you dont want to knock it off while it's running or something dumb.
