Rainbow Six not running

Post by Uncle Gus »

The game unarchived fine, but when I run the executable, the screen goes black with an hourglass, giving the impression that it's loading, but after a few seconds, it quits back to the desktop. I have tried running in all compatibility modes. I checked the NFO file that came with the archive, and it said "be sure to run the setp.exe before you play the game" but there is no setup.exe.

Any suggestions?

Nope, there's no executable apart from the game executable. I get the impression that the nfo file was written for a different archive, because it also says "use the PDM installer or just unACE the files yourself" and there is no PDM installer either.

the installer of the groups aren't always with the rips you can find on the internet ; but it doesn't matter, 'cause the installer just read the nfo, extract the ace, and play a music.

I'm not worried about the lack of an installer - I have extracted the files from the archive myself - I am worried about the lack of functionality in the game. When I run the executable, it does nothing.

Got rainbow six to run...

not sure if anyone is still interested, but since i came looking for an answer i will post one.

after unpacking double click "rainbow6.reg" and say yes at prompt, then copy everything in the folder to a "Rainbow6" folder in the C:\ root directory.

alternatively you can rewrite the "rainbow6.reg" file to install the folder references you want it to be in... i.e. "C:\Games\Rainbow 6"
