FPS Games for Amiga OS

Post by josilva23 »

I am only placing the interest level, I did not test none of the games and the only one that I found for download was "Alien Breed 3D" in Arcades 3D ( www.arcades3d.com ). Summarizing: an idea is alone for terms that exists versions that are not for PC.

Alien Breed 3D:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_Breed_3D
http://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga-cd32/alien-breed-3d

Gloom (game):

Alien Breed 3D II - The Killing Grounds:

Nemac IV:

Testament:

Running:
Removed Link. The game "Running" isn't Amiga game... Sorry for my error... :oops:

Somebody already heard to speak of these games? E where to make download of these games???
P.S.: They are all for the Amiga OS... :D

The Amiga didn't have a lot of FPS games. There were two reasons for this;

1. The Amiga's graphics were set up different than on clones, making it harder/slower to do proper scaling.

2. While clone systems got faster and faster processors, Commodore was content to keep selling Amigas that were the equivalent of a 286. Even when they produced faster systems, they only upped the processor to about the equivalent of a 386. Faster ones were available, but they were very expensive compared to clone systems. A top of the line Amiga could set you back $1000-2000 or more.

If I'm not mistaken, Doom, Quake and Descent did eventually get ported to the Amiga after their source code was released, but you needed a very powerful system to run them at a decent speed. They were really only for Amiga owners who were willing to sink a small fortune into their systems.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my Amiga, but Commodore mis-managed it right into the ground. :evil:

Well, in a near future I've planned to add "Gloom" and "Fears" to the list in Arcades 3D -sorry for this horrible english, I'm from Spain-. In fact, Gloom is a very enjoyable game, with a furious action like Doom or Wolfenstein 3D. If you have interest, can download it from here:
http://www.mooload.com/new/file.php?fil ... om.tar.bz2

...And then play it in some Amiga emulator (UAE, etc).

There are no commercial FPS games that I know of, however there is an incomplete one called Mood, which you can find here;
