No One Lives Forever

Post by MattTheMagicalMountie »

I downloaded the copy of NOLF and did the setup.bat and added it to the registry, but everytime I press Start.bat or NOLF.exe it say this is not a valid win32 application, is there anyway to fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Alrighty, here's what you need to do.

1. Get the NOLF 1.001 patch from Megagames, along with a crack. http://megagames.com/toolbox/files.cgi? ... I&&201950&
http://megagames.com/cracks/html/c32865_0.htm
2. Unzip the patch, but don't run the setup program for it. Go to the directory where it was unzipped, and go to the Game folder. Copy all of the files except for the language directories (unless you prefer to do so)
3. Paste into your NOLF folder and overwrite all of the files.
4. Unzip the crack into the NOLF folder and overwrite the existing NOLF.exe
5. Open up your "start.bat" and insert these lines at the end of the start.bat file:

-rez NOLFCRES001.REZ -rez NOLFU001.REZ

6. Enjoy. ^-^

Hope you have fun with the game....I just downloaded it early this morning at 2:00am.

Question: Are you using an NVIDIA card, or an ATI one?

On NVIDIA, it's under Color Correction in the control panel. After that, it should be fine.

On ATI, it's in the Catalyst Control Panel as well. Be sure to set the brightness setting to your tastes, and save the profile.

I had that problem at first too. >:3 Awesome game to play tho.

Good luck, and I hope my advice helped somewhat.

One google try:
Savage Video Cards
These are the setting that makes the game playable:
On the start menu of NOLF, click Advanced, and in the command-line field type "+S3TCEnable 0".
Activate Auto Mipmapping (some small artifacts may show, but it boosts the game, and it fixes the game text) for the Direct 3D (not OpenGL).
And strangely enough, when using 1152x864 resolution for the game with 32 bit, the artifacts in the game start (pink box around the mouse and buttons) are gone.

If the game is extremely dark in some levels, you may need to try the S3 reference drivers for your card. If this still doesn't help, you may wish to adjust the brightness settings from your video card's windows applet.
I think you might have the same problem as described here..?
