question about SOLIDSHIELD PROTECTION !

Post by hurenBock »

hi i have seen a sudden strike 3 version that is just 550 MB big

the guy who posted it said its just 550 mb big without the solidshield protection........with protection its 4,4GB

and nothing has been ripped just the protection.......is this possible ?
here is his comment about the post !

"Release Date:. 23/12/2007
Protection:... Solidshield

This game was filling 4.4GB space with the Solidshield protection
but with the protection removed, it's just around 550mb

This release is kept in ISO format as it is a DVD and not a CD release

Install Notes:

1. Install the game
2. Copy SS3Game.exe from Crack dir to gamedir
3. Play the game!

Merry Christmas to everyone!."

do you believe this ?

You mean TAGES 5.5 , yeah it writes its own data after the main-data tracks so its not physically possible to read those if you use a simple clone program , you must read the CD/DVD as a hole and by read i mean read forward and backwards the CD/DVD to make a full clone , its 850 mb from a CD and 4.72 gig from a DVD (depending on the line-out of the media) .

But after you have read backwards and forwards your media you can edit your big image and delete the game data and the invisible padding files (in starforce you can see those ), leaving only the invisible Tages data and make a 20-18 mb mini-image .

SolidShield works as a addon to Tages 5.5 , just like X-prot (Gothic 3 had X-prot + SolidShield + Tages 5.5 + Custom ). They are only protections that hide the Tages copy protection data for the crackers , plus it sometimes checks for emulation programs

If you wonder : How on earth do they make those clones ??
Its simple they use the New Alcohol 120% or DT pro(218) that can read data backwards and by doing this you can make perfect Clones Tages clones (VirtualCD 4 can make Tages clones also - it was the first program that could read backwards , to this day some remember it when playing Gothic 3 clones ;) )

So to answer your question : games take less space but Tages adds padding data to bump the copy protection data to the end of the disc near line-out so it could be read faster, making clones some times smaller or some times bigger depending on the line-out on the media , but when you start from a Virtual drive you don't need this padding so they remove it thus making small mini-images

Ps. For those that didn't know Gothic 3 patch 1.5.5 removes the protection :D

Where do you find the 1.5.5 patch - I've searched everywhere and can only get up to 1.5.2 community patch - There is a crack for the 1.5 community patch only. Thx. :)

I remember Delta Force 1 having a big garbage file disguised as copy protection...

jjim then get the 1.5.2 it also removes the protection

anyway you don't need the 1.5.5 its only few fixes , in 1-2 months spellbound will release 1.6.0 final patch
