I suspect that this is true. I think that the Steam componant, is causing the problems. The game's designed to function like an online networked game at all times, even while not connected and during a single player game. It's constantly looking for and checking updates, internet connections, networking, etc. I think this major network integration causes some of the glitching problems. But like I said this version seems to be an early one, the dates on the files are all 2004. These problems may be all ironed out by now.Narfous wrote:i don't think hardware has anything to do with ai disabling itselfotiscrusher wrote:I'm not a fan of this game, never been. All your problems may be simply hardware dependant.Like i've said, rabid fans deny the bugs... they don't want to see any negativity facts about their savior.

Even with my complaints, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I don't get the impression that it's particularly revolutionary, but it's a solid game. I felt the vehicle chase sections went on too long, and I don't think they really needed 2 of them. The fact that Freeman has no dialouge at all gets to be a little tiresome, it would have enhanced the character interaction.
EDIT:
Whoops, just finished it. I still think if I had to choose between them I'd choose either Half Life 1 or Oppossing Force over Half Life 2.
RE-EDIT:
I'm also kind of surprised there are no mouth animations. That's pretty old-school for a new-school game, not that the modeling in general doesn't look great.

I think the most boring part was where one had to steer a propeller boat for hours while a helicopter were bombarding one. There I was cheating to get through these annoying two or three levels as fast as possible.
@trey: I couldn't recognize if you were able to decrypt my data. If so, I would be pleased.
