Famous Five 3: Kidnapped Glitches

Post by philthethrill »

I finished playing the Famous Five 3: Kidnapped, but I ran into some problems. First, I used the batteries with the torch, but then I didn't have any batteries for Mr. Loomer's old radio, and I didn't have the option of taking the batteries out of the torch and using them with the radio. I had to start over and hold onto the batteries so that I could use them with the radio.

Second, after the policeman comes to the old inn with the ransom note that has the red wine stain on it, which Julian reads aloud, I tried clicking on the different characters to see if they would give me some hints so that I could figure out what to do next. None of them said anything so I tried going to a different location. The strange thing is that detective is the only one who left. No one said that he should go ahead and look for clues or important items. I went to the farmhouse and then detective started talking to Mrs. Miller, and then everybody else started talking but they weren't even there.

Then I checked out a walkthrough on Just Adventure and the author said that there was a bug that he encountered when he went to see Mr. Loomer. I decided to check it out. Turns out that he had the same problem I had when talking to Mrs. Miller. Only detective was there, but when Mr. Loomer started talking, everybody else joined in. When I clicked on the door, it opened and Anne was talking to Julian, but I didn't see anybody. In fact, what were they doing in there? They never said they were going to see Mr. Loomer. I clicked on the door again and then Anne and Julian came out, but where was George? She was talking earlier but I didn't see her. When I left the lighthouse she just appeared out of nowhere.

Speaking of appearing and disappearing, what happened to the policeman? He was standing there by the old inn after he showed the ransom note, but then after the the part where Alf gives Timmy a piece of cloth that he had buried the night before, the kids go back to the old inn and the policeman is no longer there. Also, when the policeman was standing by the old inn, I couldn't go through the trap door. I moved my mouse over the door but then the cursor switched quickly from an exit arrow to a regular cursor. Does anyone have a patch that can fix these problems?

Also, why does the word detective come up? After I previewed my post it changed the word D-i-c-k to detective. Maybe it thought that I had typed something obscene.

This forum needs some kind of 'spoiler tags'. I haven't played the game and don't want to read about what's going to happen. :?

That's not a bad idea. I should have said that there would be spoilers in this post in the subject and in the message. Sorry about that. If you haven't played the game yet, you could always give it a try. There are 5 games in all: Treasure, Silver Tower, Kidnapped, Dangerous Discovery and Secret Mission.

It's OK, phil, no damage done ;). Thanks for the recommendation, I'm intending to play the Famous Five games. :)
