If you didn't already know already, a new Painkiller sequel is on the horizon called Painkiller: Resurrection.
One of the guys working on it that I know hinted to me cryptically about a new project (possibly PK related) being in dev via email a few weeks ago.
The game was officially announced a few days ago.
Like Overdose it is being developed by fans but is going to be published commercially. The team working on it is HOMEGROWN. They did Robert D Anderson ATLOC. There are a few rather unrevealing screen shots at a press release on Jowood’s German site. Here’s hoping this will be a much stonger effort than Overdose or Necrovision

Okay. Fair enough. I never really thought Painkiller was trying to ‘emulate’ Doom too closely or eluding in any way to recreating the colourful wacky atmosphere of Serious Sam. This is just my opinion though. I liked the well varied dark gothic set pieces, cool weapon set & monsters, nice boss battles and the uniquely conceived secret places. Like anything, it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea I guess . . heck, I like Kreed and Hellforces & how many people would say that

I hated Kreed but I beat it, can't push myself to play the MP though, as for Hellforces I liked it, but it kept crashing on me at the same spot, so I tossed it. As for PK, it's not trying to clone serious sam (we have Will Rock for that ), but apart from the wacky humor I found the gameplay pretty similar (continuous spawns, giant bosses, lots of gibs sotgun as the main weapon, lots of pickups...). My main gripe is you only get three weapons in the first three hours of the game: one is your last resort melee weapon, the other is a shotgun and the third is that stake gun which felt pretty useless to me. I was bored out of my mind after a few levels
Bad games are like bad wine: have patience and they'll make good vinegar
