FPS History Videos on Youtube

Im new here but I just wanted to add my comment

I been playing allot of console FPS games lately through emulators, as well as very early FPS and maze games that came out thoughout the 1980's. Again through emulators. The reason for this was to make a you tube video showing the entire history of the FPS genre. As you can imagine, its not so easy to get many games to work, let alone the emulators to run them.
So basically it would be nice to see roms or links to roms posted, but first of all a good list of decent emulators that actually work, and dont take a NASA scientist to operate.

FPS games have had a long history on the consoles, and it certainly didnt kick off with doom ports or goldeneye, there are some good 3DO FPS games. Also some interesting ones for the Genesis. Also if you are going to do consoles, maybe also consider the Amiga FPS's?

I enjoyed that video, must have taken you awhile to put all those clips together. We were going to add a console fps section in the past but the guy who was working on it went insane.

Only if someone is willing to create content for that section then we'd consider it.
I have been meaning to add a pre-history of 3d FPS with some of those pre-1993 games you have on the video plus a written summary for each year after as to the important games released, innovations and milestones. Now I've been adding lots of mods/total conversions in this year so that has taken a backseat but eventually I'll do it.

Keep those videos coming, we can link to them from our Links page if ok with you. :thanks:

Yeah, I liked the videos, too. Watched all available so far. Better than installing and testing every single one

Ah and sorry if his post sounds a bit s trange or something. It was previously posted in the old "Console FPS Section?" thread from which I split it to a new one.

Thanx, I will be updating many of the videos if I find a few more games, or get some working. So if i do i will post some info here about the changes.

Temporarily I have too much work on (christmas tree harvest) so I am gonna have to break from making vids for a while.
Thanx for the positive response here, its good to know there are people out there who are massively into FPS genre. For me playing from any other perspective would be like cutting off my own foot.

The quality of Timesplitters is a bit poor, I couldnt get the emulator to work so had to use a clip from YouTube.
