Lunicus and Virus the Game help plz........

Post by Balg()rG »

Lunicus
I have had trouble with Lunicus. Obviously its a Win 3.1 game, but there was a patch for win95, which a cant seem to find anywhere. Could someone possibly upload the patch for this if they have it? I could run it in win 95 through Virtual PC.
I did try installing win 3.1 in Virtual PC, but cant seem to do it. Also tried win 3.1 in dos box, and windows does run, and the game Lunicus does install, but when I run it, it fails to recognise the CD in the drive. Maybe its an issue with the iso?

Virus the Game
This does run in dos box, and also through virtual pc, but its so fast that its uncontrollable. Is there something I need to do with dos box to get this running like it should? I would have thought virtual PC would have run it better, but its the same.

Thanx.....

Made a mistake above, virus dont run in dos box ! But will run in xp, as well as in virtual pc win 98. I forgot that it wasnt a dos based game.

Still tried the Slowdown program, but it didt make any noticable difference. Are there any other programs like it that can be trusted not to break pc, or has anyone got experience running this game? There was meant to be a playstation and a sega saturn version of Virus, but so far I have not been able to locate any roms for it, other than the pc version.

any chance you might be able to post me a link to where you got the program? Maybe i didnt get the right one?

Im running a quad core processor, so maybe it only slows down one core? Not all of them?

It just didn't have any slow down effect, although i reduced it down to one percent.

Still cant get virus to run properly, even with a slowdown, other things slow, just not the video rendering. Just wondered what you mean by afinity ?

Also any one know how to get Lunicus to work?

Virus is a terrible game, try Inner Space instead.

Terrible maybe, but I am trying to get it to work as part of a History of FPS movie (well a number of volumes) that I have been updating on You Tube. Virus looks rather unique, so I didnt want to miss it out. So far I am up to 1997, started at 1974. Most games work well, either in dos box, or in the case of console games, in a emulator, similarly for older computer games. Just the win 95 problems that are making things difficult, cant wait for someone to make win 95 and win 3.1 emulation easy.

Maybe you shoud call your series History of 3D games rather than FPS since Virus and various other games chosen aren't FPS

If you want to record playing Virus why not just use the Amiga version and WinUAE

I didnt realise that there was an amiga version? Thanks for the advice, I will track it down. Would be funny if it still ran like lightening in Win UAE. But hopefully it will be fine ;-)

Any advice on Lunicus? Anyone else had this running from the doiwnloads here?

I'm thinking you're mounting the Lunicus ISO in a secondary (virtual?) drive. Try changing the drive letter of the drive containing the Lunicus CD to be the *first* optical drive. By default, the game only checks for 1 (the primary) drive, and expects the disc to be there. ;)
