Battlespire crashes during character gen on DOSbox .74

Post by skwatter »

Just what the title says.
I installed the game perfectly, but while I am generating my character, the game glitches out and crashes DOSbox whenever I click on the Equipment/Magical Equipment buttons in the Char. Gen. Interface.

Has anyone played this game with DOSbox?
Am I just doing something wrong?

You have no idea how many games aren't playable under DB. :? I don't think there's anything can be done. Play under the real DOS. :)

Hi...
Yeah, the game works perfectly now in DOSbox 0.74.
I just told the game to use it's own frame buffer technology and there I went, off to kill demons.

I'm a persistent bastard when it comes to getting old games to work on new equipment.
Not even AMBER - Journeys Beyond has stopped me!

You succeeded with something newer than Windows 98? If you made AMBER working on XP (or Vista/Win 7) would you please be so kind as to describe here (step-by-step if possible) what exactly you have done.

I can answer this one for you zobraks, It's very unlikely that he did get it working himself, (correct me if I am wrong) he is probably using this purpose built installer by the brilliant squirtthecat hang on i'll find the link for you all:

http://www.squirtthecat.com/

here you will find his modern OS installers for amber & several other games, & also his forums.

:thanks: pAt, but I already knew about this site.
I wonder if those installers really work. Having downloaded everything from there I sincerely hope so. :D

Yeah they work wonderfully! I used the amber one on vista when I had vista, can't confirm if it will work on win7 haven't tried it yet, but i'm guessing probably so, he does excellent work.
