Thoughts For Hellsgate
Most older members will remember Hellsgate - a great contributor to the site. I was in close contact with him up untill a few years ago but have not heard from him since as he was disconnecting from the net. The recent Australian Brisbane floods have hit hardest in the suburb where he lives , with houses completely submeged so I hope he and his family are all ok.

Re: Thoughts For Hellsgate
I'm Humbled
guys
Well instead of starting a new topic figured I'd use an old one.
As it was we lost the house to 10 feet of water - while we did get most of our personal possessions out we did however loose all furniture, my older computer gear, consoles and much more.
while I did get my Games collection out to a Safe place the house it went too Flooded to 2 feet and I lost Half of it
So this is what's left of that half

I spent 2 days ripping open wet box's to recover CD's and cd keys and I gotta tell yuh it nearly killed me ( lost 90% of floppy Disk based games)- $2k worth of Collectors editions gone alone and it's kinda funny how games I wouldn't have minded were gone survived and Those I really wanted were gone.
So with this my passion for Collecting games has well and truly been killed as in the last 8 months I have bought just 1 game - we have moved 3 times since and it will take a long time Financially to
recover, even now after 8 months I'm still siting on the floor with my computer ( I so miss my Desk
)
Hey jjim did you get hit by the cyclones up north

Re: Thoughts For Hellsgate
I can imagine the heartbreak when you lose a collection which you acquired for the love of it. It's why we do it here...at least electronically stored games will always be around and hopefully most of it will last through the ages.
Personally, I feel extreme weather will only get worse as nothing gets done by most of the world about climate change. If things get progressively worse over the next decades, it will lead to mass calamaties. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Good to hear that you survived HG - but sorry you lost so much. Some of the TV footage ( which I think was worldwide) looked pretty horrendous.
Yes we got hit by 2 Cyclones - 1 tore off some of the house roofing and led to water damage - but fortunately nothinmg like your disaster. Hope that's the last of the Queensland weather disasters for a while.

Re: Thoughts For Hellsgate
This makes me remember a old war time joke... a Christian G-a-y dies and goes to heaven there St.Peter the keeper of the gates of heaven asks him where he would want to go , he explains he would want to see the chocolate way of angels . St.Peter dazzled by this, and well having no clue what it was, scratches his head .... he said ok so you want to see angles ... yes i would want to see the chocolate way of male angles, said the G-a-y Christian. Go my son with God , said St.Peter and find your way , maybe Angels will know what it is because ''I'' don't know it... 1 day passes and male Angels go to St.Peter , look Boss we get it he was good and all but that f-u-c-k-i-n-g G-A-Y f-u-c-k-s our asses every time we bend over for something ... St.Peter stunned by hearing this goes to him and by accident he trips and his keys fall to the ground , when he tries to pick them up the G-a-y f-u-c-k-s his ass...St.Peter mad as f-u-c-k about this sends him to HELL...
7 day passes ,St.Peter is worried about sending him to hell goes to see SATAN to explain the situation and forgive that G-A-Y and send him to his male s-e-x phantasy's heaven ... but when he goes there he is
STUNNED to be freezing from the cold , he asks SATAN "What happen? Why is here so COLD?'' ... and SATAN answers "try to pick the wood"

7 day passes ,St.Peter is worried about sending him to hell goes to see SATAN to explain the situation and forgive that G-A-Y and send him to his male s-e-x phantasy's heaven ... but when he goes there he is

Re: Thoughts For Hellsgate
Damn, sometimes it slips my mind that people on this forum actually have a real-world representation, which can be vulnerable to external factors.
I feel your pain, losing your collection of rarities is really something that hurts. We can only hope that some of the exquisities lost in the flood will resurface (no pun intended) for others to enjoy.
Looking at those CDs is exciting, but if you consider the lost boxes, manuals and not to mention the floppies, it's hard not to get sad...

Yeah, loosing even a small part of your collection is always very painful.
Once I was collecting some nice stuff and one day accidentally threw the whole collection away while cleaning up my place. Still can't forget myself...
