Usegrab - The First Web-Only Usenet Provider

Post by Shattered »

Usegrab
Using our service couldn't be any easier! Just follow these 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Find your nzb using a usenet search provider, or use our own Usenet Search

Step 2: Upload your desired NZB file - We will take care of processing the file, you just sit back and relax!

Step 3: When the files have processed, you will be taken to the download page where you can download the files you requested - They will all be contained in a single Zip file!
Website:

Code: Select all

http://www.usegrab.com/
Features:

- No registration required
- No Usenet client or QuickPar required
- The maximum file size you can download in one go is 5 GB
- The link to the created zip file will stay online for 1 day
- The download speed is around 500 kB/s

I was able to get a post of more than 1100 days old with this service.

If you want to try out Usenet now is your chance.

Also the nzb can't be more than 3 MB. But other than that it seems to work great. :D

I really do prefer downloading at max bandwidth, however this is really cool for those who want to try out Usenet.

Yes, it's not so good for big downloads. A single DVD movie + pars is often bigger than 5 GB, so those can't be downloaded. The size of a NZB pointing to a 5 GB post was a little over 1 MB.

However, a download speed of 500 kB/s is more than reasonable if you compare it to what you get on most file hosters nowadays.

Well, you can always split the nzb into smaller chunks to bypass the 5GB limit. :P

I've noticed that sometimes you need to wait quite a long time before the link becomes available. Just be patient, the link will appear eventually.

They allow 2 connections, so you can use a download manager (i.e. JDownloader) to download the file faster.

It doesn't work for me. Essentially it goes fukkyou every time I upload an NZB, just as it is about to give links maybe?

I've had it work a few times, but once it never finished processing and just sat at that screen for hours. Dunno what happened.

Here's another one for ya:

UsenetStorm: The world's first FREE Web Usenet Provider

Code: Select all

http://www.usenetstorm.com/
Both claim to be the first but I don't care as long as they work.

Limitations for free users:

Max. size: 500 MB
Max. speed: 500 kB/s

You can pay for more, but you can get more value for your coin if you take a good usenet account.

All the files that the NZB points to will be downloaded (incl. pars), so you need to repair them youself if necessary.

Yeah, it's been like that for a couple of days now. Usegrab doesn't seem to be repairing things anymore either, just zipping them.

Usenetstorm has lowered the limit as well:
Notice : Free users have been limited to 100mb per nzb upload until further notice
Usegrab isn't working for me at all. It keeps saying that it's still processing the NZB.
