The game was probably made around the early 2000s. Sadly, this is all I can remember about it:
1. It was a rather dark game.
2. It had a 3rd person perspective. (closest thing I can think of gameplay wise would be Men in Black or Blood & Lace)
3. The game likely had a fixed camera perspective (like Resident Evil).
4. At some point in the game (probably early on), some obviously evil looking guy (with a goatee I think) shows up, does something or laughs at you, then disappears. After that you backtrack a bit, and you are attacked by 2 guys or 2 dark looking things. I probably sucked at the game, or the game was just hard, because I couldn't do anything against them. The evil guy could have been a cardboard cutout or a statue at that point (if that's the case, I'm not really sure if the cardboard cutout or the statue disappeared).
5. I'm pretty sure It's not a RPG.
6. The game had a modern setting.
Honestly, nr.4 is the thing I remember most vividly about the game. So if you can think of a similar scene in a game that contradicts something I've said, then please mention it.
