I believe it's been in beta state for a loooong time (and looks like it still is !), you should"t worry about this - JD2 will download updates almost everyday. Sometimes twice a day.
On my side I've used JD2 Beta for more than a year of 4shared leeching, I haven't come across a single problem since. Knocking on wood
