Nvidia Removes support and usage of 32Bit PhysX on new RTX5xxx GPUs

New RTX 5xxx feature dropped ... Removal of all Physx Support from the 32 bit side ... in other words none of those games work with GPU logic , but force CPU logic ... even slowing down the game or not boot at all ... aka all Unreal games

same was when GTX9600 hit in 2009 that removed 8-bit palette texture support

and games that need those no longer could boot : MGS1 , FFVIII , FFVII , Sin , Quake 2 (heck games that need Q2 engine) and more now needed wrappers to boot to fake having those features...

The lulz was even new games could not boot .. like Dreamfall: The Longest Journey has corrupted graphics since all Xbox 1 to PC games used 8-bit palette texture support ... or Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent ... from 2006 ...

from 2009 AMD was like "We will never cut anything" and to this day to have full backwards compatibility you have to get a ATI card ...

The removal of support is based on the GPU right? Since the current Nvidia driver package includes support for the RTX 5000 series all the way down to the 900 series.... Yeah it is still checked in GPU-z provided you have physx system software installed, and Physx on GPU checked in the drivers. If drivers got installed with Windows update and you havent bothered installing the actual nvidia driver package yet, physx aint installed.

Using a second card as a dedicated physx card still works, kinda suprised just how bad even modern CPUs is at physx.. https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-compone ... erformance

A decade old CPU and GPU combo outperforms a 5080 and a 9800X3D with physx effects enabled :lol:

Terje , 32Bit PhysX is removed ... not 64bit that Unreal 5 uses . This was the MAIN thing why suddenly all Jumped on UE5 Engine Train ...
That means all Unreal 3\4 , Ubisoft Anvil 1.0 (all AC games )(not 2.0 or 3.0) , Silk Engine (Bound by Flame , Faery: Legends of Avalon , GreedFall , GreedFall 2: The Dying World , Mars: War Logs , Of Orcs and Men , Steelrising , The Technomancer)... and more are now gimped on new RTX5XXX ... just see the list that was posted... and yeah that video shows how BAD IT IS ...

Like mentioned before for those not grasping the damage ... Nvidia bought PhysX and made Devs use it as a Hardware Solution to boost your game performance , then CPU Havoc ... the thing mentioned by them do not mention that later down the line , those mentioned Game Engines BY NATIVE USED PHYSX ... you can't TURN IT OFF ... all to tank AMD\ATI GPU performance for over 10 years !!! ... its more then those 280 titles ... a hell lot more , suddenly get abysmal performance since they use a feature that was used native on your GPU ...

Games' proper working tied to processor speed, 3DFX accelerators and Glide, various CD-and-DVD protections, netplay requiring port forwarding instead of operating via a matchmaking program like Steam, plenty more examples of stuff that became obsolete and is now either emulated or bypassed. That's been the case for computer gaming since the 90s if not earlier. I bet a 32-to-64bit PhysX wrapper will eventually be made. It concerns too many games to not create demand and when there's demand, all it takes one good programmer to come up with a solution.

There is hope, even if you don't see it now.

Solution is not the right word ... migration from SDK 2.0 to 3.0 , then to 5.5 https://nvidia-omniverse.github.io/Phys ... nTo55.html ... that was rebranded sometime ago as ... wait for it ... DLSS , yea ... physX is now the core of AI depth sensing tech , frame upscaling . Used as a simulation engine, to predict what a set object will do in real time so the AI can generate a frame aka DLSS ... that now with SDK5.5 became DLSS 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQn3bsPNTyI ... This is why Physx 1.0\2.0 support was removed. You can't have both at the same time. 10 years of games is now bricked on new RTX5xxx since UE3\UE4 use it native... this is why games on those engines worked like crap on a ATI\AMD card . And you know what is the Fracking kicker here, Nvidia boasted about this with RTX REMIX Tools https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90nIfKBbLVY ... this is why they made them... and this is why WItcher 3 got the "Next Gen Patch" since they use phsyx 3.0 that now is 5.5 , since by default physx runs off CPU ... now it can run on hardware
