HOW-TO: Dracula In London (1993) on XP Topic is solved

To run 1993 version of Dracula In London on Windows XP do the following:

1. Extract archive with setup files to a folder in the root of a disk that is no longer than 8 simple (ASCII) characters long (e.g. C:\DRINST)
2. Run SETUP.EXE from where you extracted setup files and install the game to a similar folder (e.g. C:\DRACULA)
3. Create a text file in the same folder with this line:

DRACWIN

4. Rename the text file to !START.BAT
5. On Compatibility tab of !START.BAT Properties select 'Run in 640x480 screen resolution' and press 'OK'
6. In Start Menu shortcut 'DRACULA In London' Properties press 'Change Icon', then 'OK', in 'Target' field replace DRACWIN.EXE with !START.BAT and press 'OK'
7. Run 'DRACULA In London' or !START.BAT to launch the game.

You may delete the folder with setup files.
For better sound I recommend setting Sound Options to Sound Blaster (press 'Update' to save changes).


To uninstall delete the following:
Folder where you installed the game
%SystemRoot%\SETUP1.EXE
%SystemRoot%\system\KEYSTAT.VBX
%SystemRoot%\system\MCI.VBX
%SystemRoot%\system\PICCLIP.VBX
%SystemRoot%\system\SETUPKIT.DLL
%SystemRoot%\system\VBRUN200.DLL
Start Menu\Programs\DRACULA

Hiya. I really, REALLY need this to run on my Windows 8 computer.
I am considering doing a remake, you see. And I need to re-experience the game.

then get yourself a 32bit or 16bit system like Winxp or win98 and run it in VMware or Virtual PC ... because DX11 will not run 32/16bit applications that are coded for a 16bit system that use Directdraw ...

why not use the DOS version that can be runned in Dosbox , the Windows version is a remake with better graphics

Better graphics and sound. And the version I grew up with.

Will look into VMware.
