This site already has a link to the fix for Dark Side of the Moon not displaying text in the game. That file is riched32.dll and the fix was credited to WinterFury.
However, for people who were still having trouble and had to disable Video Acceleration, there was another file referenced by WinterFury that he patched that was xvideoio.dll You are supposed to copy it to the same folder as the riched32.dll if you need to use it. It supposedly is a patch which forces the game to use hardware emulation only.
Any links I saw for that file from the time are now dead. Did anyone dl and keep this file or know where it is still available?
