This is a stand alone single player game - actually using the Doom 3 engine. It's all in Russian but is playable - I speak no Russian and managed to start the game. However even after googling and searching through all the game files I cannot find any info on who the game developers are or where the game came from. If anyone knows anything about it - would be interesting. Total size 1.03gb :
I'll see if i can upload some screens later - atm my internet is really bad and uploading even 100kb is difficult without getting cut off - ahhhhhh - the joys of dial-up still. Played a few levels and it's a bit like an updated return to wolfenstein - It's quite well done and worh a look - monsters are German soldiers and the setting is like a bump-mappoed Castle Wolfenstein .
It runs shitty on my rig, and with the UI being in Russian, it's hard to configure performance if you don't remember how it all played out in Doom 3.
I wonder why they refer to it with 'Quake 4', as this is obviously a standalone Doom 3 mod. Even the serial in the xpkey is linked to Doom 3 as oppose to Quake 4.
Basically, you're still the doom space marine with 3 of your Doom3 weapons (with ductape mod) and WW2 grenades replacing the original Doom3 'nades. The models look nice, as do the levels & textures. The rest (gameplay) IMO is kinda aweful.
Yeah i realized that too.Funny enough there are two different covers out.One shows the DOOM3 trooper the other the Quake 4 soldier.I havent tried it yet.Is it turned out to be a Doom 3 addon now?!
Played 3 levels so far. Nice'n'sleazy corridors a la RtCWolfenstein. Sort of Time Gate under D3 engine gluey lighting. Like it.
To keep your favorite settings and ignore the russian UI, just put a copy of your D3 config in the mod 'base' dir.
No tech problem here. The mod runs like a breeze in 1920x1200 (PentD 3.2 - GeForce 7900 GTX).
About the wrong Q4 reference, mmh... Is Q4 more popular in Russia?
Edit:
Finished it... erm... Finally not better than a banal RtCW add-on. Just bland old mission/escape.
Forget the Time Gate comparison. No weird horror/sci-fi experiments or boss in the end...
Except nazi bodies bouncing up grenade blasts, you can even forget it's D3...
