Quake 1 iso?

Post by Trey »

OK, so I downloaded the RARs and unpaked them creating a BIN file, 632MB... Why when I open it, do I get a grand total of 32MB of content?! Is that all there is? Did I download 600MBs of empty space? Why not just upload the 32MBs of files instead?

Quake is small on a CD yes and if you downloaded a Bin/cue image of it I'd say you also have the Audio Tracks as well - here is a rundown of my Winquake disk

Info on inserted Disc:
Number of sessions: 1
CD contains CD-Text: No
Size used on Disc: 701840 kBytes
Sectors: 305563
Time: 67:54:13 (Min:Sec:Fra)

Info on Session 1:
Size used in Session: 701840 kBytes
Number of Tracks: 11
Track 1: Data Mode 1, Size: 93096 kBytes
Track 2: Audio, Size: 53161 kBytes
Track 3: Audio, Size: 25150 kBytes
Track 4: Audio, Size: 86174 kBytes
Track 5: Audio, Size: 62941 kBytes
Track 6: Audio, Size: 76584 kBytes
Track 7: Audio, Size: 89270 kBytes
Track 8: Audio, Size: 57865 kBytes
Track 9: Audio, Size: 66995 kBytes
Track 10: Audio, Size: 36614 kBytes
Track 11: Audio, Size: 53985 kBytes

If you don't want full cd of a game then go for a Rip of one - did you open Bin with a ISO tool or burn it to cd.

You've only extracted one volume instead of all at once. What kind of stupid extractor are you using ?!!?

I used WinRAR to decrypt it. That coughed up a file containing a BIN and a CUE. BIN says 647MBs, CUE 1KB. I've seen super small rips of Quake before , I figure all the music had been ripped (which offen takes up a lot space). But both Daemon tools and a burned CD list the total size as only 32MB. Am I missing something? Why is the BIN so huge when it only results in 32MBs? I don't see any audio tracks. I've never encountered anything like this before.

Play the CD in an audio CD player and skip track 1. If the disc has more than one track, the rest will be audio tracks. If not, you need a proper cue file which has all of the audio tracks listed in it, and then reburn the image using that cue file.
