no no no and once more no
i dont know who made this ranking but
first will be dr. web and mcafee 2008 then all the rest
just maybe.. they noticed mcafee is just more expensive or smoething
but beside this if you are looking just for BEST antivirus ever is just like
i said
dr. web and mcafee 2008
and i have tested this out making some viruses trojans and i tell you
i dont know anybody who would fool those two :)
BUT the topic here was FREE antivirus so anyway neither of these two
will be free
i think when it comes to have any free antivirus i would recommend
free avg 7.5 + spyware blaster + .... here you can combine something more :)

Oh, I'm sorry. Your own couple of homebrew viruses obviously overshadows testing against a databank of 1000's, my mistake.

Further sources include Virus Bulletin and AV-Test.
Similar information for firewall testing can be found at matousec.com.

I hope you at least have a router between your computer and the internet then, otherwise.. lunacy.
I have been doing this for years. No virus outbreakes...

Nod32 or Kaspersky followed by BitDefender are the best.

For free I suggest AOL Anti-virus (free version of Kaspersky but you get lots of junkmail from it)

Then probably Avast..

Then AVG. Since AVG may be better then norton but its no kaspersky.

You get what you pay for (and paying for norton you get to be the biggest idiot)

I'd forgotten about this, but unfortunately it seems they are now offering a free version of McAffee rather than Kaspersky.

I'm hoping that the free Comodo Anti-virus will become as good as the also free Comodo Firewall.
