Tech help or advise? On ISOs

Post by Trey »

I downloaded ISOs of IRON STORM CDs 1 and 2 from another site (only 9 rapidshare links, easier for me to download). My problem is that they don't autoplay, so you can click install from CD 1s directory, it'll run, and then ask you to insert CD2. Changing the CD in the drive or in Daemon Tools has no effect. The messege 'Insert disc2' keeps popping up. I think the problem is that CD2 doesn't autoplay so the install program doesn't see it. I looked for an exicutable in CD2, but no luck.

Am I wrong about this? The only other thing I can think of is that the CD2 image is bad, but it extracted okay. I'd hate to have to download these again (it takes me days...) I have PowerIso and Nero, can I change some settings maybe to get these things to autoplay?

Also according to the info in the iso images they were created with PowerIso, I downloaded it thinking that maybe I could make work on its mother software... :(

Try mounting both iso's at once by creating two virtual drives. It's worked for me with some games.

I think I've figured out whats wrong. I think the images are formated wrong. When you put the CD in the drive (or mount it) it shows a file named 'D' and the game files are inside of file 'D'. There should be no file in the image, the reason the disc won't autostart is because it reads it as a data file not an iso, the autostart command is inside of this file 'D'. What I've got to do is get the discs files onto a CDR and remove the 'D' from the tree.

:x

Also the game doesn't give you an option to select the drive CD2 is in, it has to be the same drive as CD1.

Problem Solved!

Well it cost me 4 CDRs but I finally got it all worked out. I copied the files from the folder 'D' in the isos of each CD image. Then I added them to new iso images using PowerIso, that removed the disruptive folder from the isos roots. Then I burned these new isos to CDR. Sure enough CD 1 autoran when placed in the drive, but... CD 2 still didn't. I noticed that pop-up asked you to 'Insert IRON_CD2', so I went back and renamed the new CD 2 iso (which was default named just a string of numbers) 'IRON_CD2' and ba-da-bing! Success!

Course... now the game won't run using the burned CD and I'm going to have to get a No-CD exe.

I bet the game isn't worth all the trouble it's causing me...
