Deus Ex: Invisible War DVD Edition - garbled text

Post by bramdez »

I've just downloaded otiscrusher's DX2IW DVD ISO and burned it to DVD (using CloneCD) . The thing is, everything 'seems' to be there i.e. file sizes check out normally, no download problems or anything, but when I try to install, the installer's text is all %^µ*ed up. Same thing for readme files.

It's very well possible that the game files are still intact... but before I guess my way through the install process I'd like to make sure no-one's had the same problem?

Checking .sfv with QuickSFV v2.36 shows everything hunky dory, so I'm at a loss here. Last thing I can think of is that I'm missing a character set or something.

I think what you got there is a non-english version. Probably a russian installer, without the language support you just get a string of meaningless characters. Otiscrusher usually ups original english versions, so it's a little strange, but if you just 'feel' your way through the install process you'll get the english version when it's all said and done.

bramdez he uploaded a Russian DVD version with higher movie bit rate and sound quality , install menu is only in Russian but you should be not alerted by this because this game is in English

so just do your thing , you know how to install a game don't you and have fun with it

Oh, when you're installing, keep your eye out incase there's a drop-down selector to select the language. My copy of Half Life 2 is like that, it defaults to russian, but you can pick 'english version' from a dropdown menu.

Thanks for the advice people. I really appreciate it.

Yup, I know how to install a game and while I'm at it I'll install a cyrillic char set. That way I still won't have a %^µ*ing clue as to what it actually says, but at least I'll be cool 8)

BTW, thanks otiscrusher, for getting this up on the site.
